Introduction
For the first stay of my Bangkok remote-work trip from September 2 to 8, 2025, I chose The Peninsula Bangkok and stayed for two nights, from September 2 to 4.
Known as one of Bangkok’s leading luxury hotels, it worked beautifully for both focused work and a proper holiday. The service also felt distinctly more personal than at many other hotels. Here is my review from a remote-work trip perspective.
Why I Chose This Hotel
I had reasons on both the work and vacation sides. In practice, The Peninsula Bangkok made it easy to switch between the two without feeling that either part of the trip had been compromised.
For Work
- Because business travellers from around the world trust the Peninsula brand, the rooms are well suited to working.
- The calm, upscale atmosphere makes it easier to concentrate than at hotels dominated by tour groups.
- ICONSIAM is next door, so it is easy to return to the hotel quickly if work comes up while you are out.
For a Vacation
- With a Peninsula Time booking, check-in and check-out times can be flexible.
- The riverside setting, pool and views make the hotel itself feel like part of the holiday.
- ICONSIAM is close for dining and shopping, and the hotel’s boats make sightseeing convenient.

The flexible timing was especially valuable. Flights from Japan often arrive in Bangkok early in the morning or depart late at night. I arrived at Suvarnabhumi at around 6 a.m. and reached the hotel at about 7 a.m.; with Peninsula Time, the front desk welcomed me straight into my room, even after an early-morning arrival; on departure, it also lets guests relax at the hotel until the evening. After an overnight flight in Bangkok’s heat, that was a genuine relief.

Room Review
I stayed in a Grand Deluxe Room. Its layout is the same as a standard Deluxe Room, but its higher floor gives it a better view and a stronger sense of escape. There is separate space for luggage away from the living area, so the room stays open rather than being taken over by suitcases.
The desk by the window overlooks the river and the riverside district. Free Wi-Fi was reliable, there were power outlets at the desk, and the room was quiet enough that online meetings should be comfortable. A complimentary coffee machine was another welcome touch.
One drawback: the in-room safe was too small for a laptop. As a workaround, I put my laptop in my suitcase and locked the suitcase when going out.
Lounge and Dining
The hotel does not have an executive lounge. If you want to work outside your room, the lobby or River Cafe & Terrace are the practical options. I saw business travellers doing light work around breakfast, and the staff were perfectly comfortable with guests using laptops.
For sustained work, though, the riverside terrace is hot and has no visible power outlets. It is better suited to a coffee, email checks or a short task than a full work session. Indoor seating is available, but I did not confirm the outlet situation there.
Note
Both the breakfast and dinner buffets at River Cafe & Terrace were excellent. The dinner buffet was THB 2,480 plus tax when I visited, but the seafood, made-to-order grilled beef and the riverside atmosphere made it memorable. Breakfast included all the mangoes I could possibly eat.
The Vacation Side of a remote-work trip
This is where The Peninsula Bangkok really shines: an adult-oriented riverside pool, easy access to ICONSIAM, and on-demand boats to Sathorn Pier. Let us look at each one.
A Beautiful, Relaxed Pool
The pool is excellent in both daytime and at night. Its calm, resort-like atmosphere and the breeze off the Chao Phraya make it easy to unwind. Cabanas are popular in the midday sun, but the staff let us know when one became available and even brought complimentary chilled mango drinks.
You can take the elevator directly from the room floors to G Floor: work in your room in the morning, then spend the afternoon at the pool and have lunch poolside. For a family remote-work trip, one person can work while a partner and children enjoy the pool.
Excellent Access to ICONSIAM
ICONSIAM is close enough to cover dining, shopping and river views in one stop. It has Thai food courts, Japanese favourites, restaurants with Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition, Thai souvenirs, luxury brands, Uniqlo, MUJI, Takashimaya and much more. There is also one of Thailand’s largest Starbucks / Starbucks Reserve locations, with excellent views.
It is about an eight-minute walk from the hotel or roughly three minutes by the free shuttle boat.
The free boat runs between the hotel and ICONSIAM every 30 minutes from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., departing the hotel at :00 and :30.
On-Demand Boats to Sathorn Pier
For destinations beyond the riverside, take the hotel’s free boat to Sathorn Pier and transfer to the BTS at neighbouring Saphan Taksin Station.
The hotel does not publish a fixed timetable for this boat. Before travelling, I asked about the service and received the following reply.
To Taksin Pier (Saphan Taksin BTS Station) is available daily from 6:00 am – 12:00 midnight. On demand.
The boat schedule is daily; you can just approach our concierge team for assistance. For Taksin Pier going to the hotel, we have a representative waiting in the area.
I was initially unsure how this would work, especially on the return journey. In practice, I simply told the staff at the hotel pier that I wanted to go to Sathorn. At Sathorn, a staff member in a polo shirt with the hotel logo was waiting; after I asked to return to the hotel, a boat usually arrived within about five minutes. It felt close to having a complimentary private boat on call, which was exceptionally convenient compared with fixed-schedule hotel shuttles.

Cons
- Accommodation is expensive.
- The in-room safe is too small for a laptop.
- Although the boats are convenient, the hotel is across the river from central Bangkok, so consider your itinerary as a whole.
We Returned as a Family of Three in 2026
In May 2026, I returned to The Peninsula Bangkok with my wife and mother-in-law. We booked a Deluxe Room through HoteLux and were generously upgraded to a Grand Deluxe Suite at check-in.
The 74-square-metre suite has separate living and bedroom areas and was comfortable for three adults even with an extra bed in the living room. It was also ideal for a family remote-work trip: I could take an online meeting in the bedroom while the family relaxed in the living room.

Who I Recommend The Peninsula Bangkok To
- Travellers who want to work slowly while enjoying riverside views
- People who prefer quiet focus to crowded cafés
- Visitors who want easy dining and shopping at a convenient mall
- Families who want a pool as part of the trip
The Peninsula is undeniably expensive. Still, I would say yes to choosing it for a remote-work trip if the budget allows. It brings together reliable Wi-Fi, a large desk, a quiet setting for online meetings and an environment that helps you feel motivated to work. At the same time, its location, pool and river experiences give non-working family members a real vacation.
Luxury hotels are not the only places for a good remote-work trip, but The Peninsula Bangkok offers a work-and-vacation balance that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.
