About the comparison criteria for this article
When comparing hotels in Bangkok from a remote work while travelling perspective, we have set the following criteria.
- work environment: Desk environment in guest rooms and lounges, Wi-Fi stability, quietness
- vacation environment: Pool and surrounding facilities, extraordinary feeling, degree of refreshment
- Location access: Good access to public transportation such as BTS and boats, and shopping malls (excluding proximity to the city center)
- cost performance:Overall satisfaction level with accommodation rate (taking into account service, location, and facilities)
We evaluated these criteria comprehensively and created a ranking for each item.
Work environment ranking
🥇 1st place: Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse
You can work from a different location by using the guest room or executive lounge.
In particular, I felt that the Executive Lounge was a quiet environment that made it easy to concentrate.
In the lounge,You can feel refreshed just by looking at the view unique to the upper floors, and there are also plenty of snacks and drinks available.So there is no doubt that the work will progress.
This is a relatively new hotel with comfortable facilities.

The desk in the guest room is a little small, but there is no problem in working.
The lounge is bright and openThere are also a few Western guests who work there.
Hilton brand is safe for business travelers.
The room’s window seat served as a standing desk, and personally, I found it to be a work environment with the best view.

The small safety deposit box is a drawback, and there is no lounge like the Marriott Suriwongse, but this hotel offers a high level of balance between work and vacation.

The L-shaped desk is compact and easy to use, but the lighting is a little dim.
If you’re going to work away, it might be better to stay 70% for relaxation rather than 70% for work.

Adjacent to Icon Siam, shopping, dining, cafes, and night views are within a 5-minute walk.
It is easy to get to Sathorn Pier and BTS, and access to temples and central Bangkok is surprisingly easy.
A hotel where you can experience the touristic elements of riverside and the convenience of a large commercial facility.
🥈 2nd place: The Peninsula Bangkok
Surprisingly, the free boat to Sathorn Pier (BTS Saphan Taksin Station) is a chartered boat that comes when you call.
Icon Siam is also within 10 minutes walk and can be accessed by free boat.
The combination of elegance and convenience is attractive.
🥉 3rd place: Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse
Silom/Suriwong urban area.
Although it is a little far from BTS Saladaeng Station, the free shuttle bus runs regularly, making up for the inconvenience.
However, the hotel’s pool and lounge are so wonderful that it makes guests think, “Maybe I don’t need to go out.”
4th place: Siamotif Boutique Hotel
A riverside area in the Noi district of Bangkok with a strong local flavor.

If you choose an accommodation plan that does not include lounge access, you can significantly reduce costs.

(I think it’s wrong to discuss this hotel in terms of cost performance, though…)
4th place: The Peninsula Bangkok
Considering the overwhelming service and location of the Peninsula, it’s a reasonable price, but since it’s a luxury hotel, in terms of cost performance, this time it’s at the bottom.
However, in a sense, the cost performance is good if you consider that you can experience the service and facilities! I seriously think so.

There are plenty of cheap hotels in Bangkok, but in my past experience, the rooms in cheap hotels were a bit damp and dark. The riverside hotels introduced in this article are more like luxury hotels, but I personally think they are good value for money because you can enjoy luxurious services and locations that you cannot find in Japan within the same price range!
