Hello, this is Masatora.
In May 2026, my wife and mother-in-law stayed at The Peninsula Bangkok for 3 nights. The whole journey and how I manage my work time is as follows:A 3-night, 5-day workday experience that balances family travel and work.Introducing.
I had booked a regular deluxe room, but when I checked in,Free upgrade to Grand Deluxe SuiteIt had been done…!
This is a 74㎡ room with a separate living room and bedroom, and an extra bed is installed in the living room. Still, there was plenty of space for three people, and I was able to work in a separate room while my family rested.
This trip was to celebrate my mother-in-law’s retirement, so I informed the hotel of the purpose of the trip in advance. However, the reason for the upgrade is not explained. It’s possible that it was a courtesy from the hotel, but I can’t say with certainty that it was a retirement gift.
In this article, we will introduce in detail the floor plan and facilities of the Grand Deluxe Suite, ease of use for three people, work environment, and services such as Peninsula Time and PenChat based on actual experience.
*Prices and services are information as of May 2026 stay.

Book a Deluxe Room for 3 nights at HotelLux
This time, we will introduce the hotel reservation site “HoteLuxI booked a deluxe room for 3 nights through.
The total accommodation fee is 35,310 THB including tax and service charge. The reservation included the following benefits:
- If you stay 3 nights, get 1 night free (in other words, the above price is actually 2 nights)
- daily breakfast
- USD 100 hotel credit
- Room upgrade within the same category based on availability
The $100 hotel credit was used toward part of the dinner buffet we had at the hotel’s restaurant, River Cafe & Terrace, on the night of our arrival.
HotelLux upgrade benefits do not include upgrades to suites. When staying at Peninsula Bangkok in 2025At the time of check-in, the front desk staff offered us a paid upgrade, but we declined at that time.
However, this time, we were guided to the Grand Deluxe Suite without any additional charge!
- is a repeater
- Booking through HotelLux
- The hotel knows that this is a celebratory stay for us.
- It was too small for 3 people in one room, so they took care of my mother-in-law.
- Room occupancy is simply low.
There are many possible reasons, but the reason for this upgrade is unknown.
Upgrades are subject to availability and booking conditions, so booking using the same method does not guarantee a suite.
The trip was to comfort my mother-in-law, so it was an unexpected and pleasant surprise!
Basic information of Grand Deluxe Suite
The main room information posted on the Peninsula official website is as follows.
| item | Content |
|---|---|
| spaciousness | 74㎡ |
| Capacity | Maximum 3 people |
| bed | king or twin |
| view | Chao Phraya river and Bangkok cityscape |
| main space | living room, dining room, bedroom, walk-in closet |
| work equipment | Executive work desk, Wi-Fi, universal power supply |
Since it is located on a high floor, you can enjoy a wide view of the Chao Phraya River and the cityscape on the opposite bank from the windows.
The deluxe room I stayed in in 2025 also had an attractive river view, but the suite had windows in both the living room and bedroom, so the view and space were much different.

Room with separate living and bedroom
The best thing about the Grand Deluxe Suite was that the living room and bedroom were separated by a door.
The living room has a sofa, a table, a dining table that seats 4 people, and a full-fledged work desk. This time, I put an extra bed in this living room and asked my mother-in-law to use it.
Even with an extra bed, there is still plenty of space for people to pass by or to relax on the sofa.
My wife and I used the back bedroom. Since each person has a separate place to sleep, you can have private time even when traveling with three adults.
You can also book two rooms at a hotel, but if you stay in one suite, you can enjoy meals and conversations together, but be separated only when sleeping. The floor plan was very compatible with a family of three traveling together.

The living room has a large desk for work.
If you want to use it for a workday, the work desk in the living room is the easiest place to work.
It’s a secretarial style room with a desk right in front of the entrance (lol), but it’s extremely functional.
It’s spacious enough for a laptop, and there are multiple electrical outlets and USB ports around the desk. A work chair is also provided, so it’s suitable not only for responding to emails but also for a few hours of coding.
From my experience, the desk in the living room was the most convenient for work in the room, both in terms of equipment and seating comfort.

I was able to hold online meetings even in my bedroom.
During my stay, I also used a table in my bedroom that was probably my dressing table and a small table by the window for work.
This is not really a work desk, and the chair is not designed for long hours of work. Therefore, in terms of workability alone, the desk in the living room was better, but it did not interfere with my work.
There are two electrical outlets near the vanity table.
I also participated in the online meeting from my bedroom around 15:00 to 16:00 Bangkok time. Since you can close the door between the living room and the living room, you can concentrate on your meetings without worrying about your family’s voices.
When working while traveling with your family, it’s more important than having a nice desk to separate the space between work and rest.
If you work in the same room, you’ll have to worry about your family, and you’ll feel less like a tourist…
With the Grand Deluxe Suite, I was able to create a private work area without forcing my family out of the room. (Thanks for the upgrade…!)

Wi-Fi connection is stable at 51Mbps
When we measured the Wi-Fi in the guest room, the speed was 51Mbps.
I emailed, chatted, browsed websites, did some coding, and held online meetings, and I didn’t notice any slowdowns. It doesn’t disconnect during my stay and is stable enough for work.
The speed of hotel Wi-Fi varies depending on the time and location of measurement and the number of users. Please use the 51Mbps as a reference value measured during this stay.

Large safety box that can fit a 15-inch laptop
When staying in a deluxe room in 2025I couldn’t put my laptop in the safe in the room.
When working overseas, you may be concerned about how to store your PC every time you leave your room for sightseeing or meals.
but,This suite had a large safe box, and I was able to store my 15-inch laptop without any problems.. It gives you a different sense of security when you leave your work tools in the guest room and go out.
It’s a small facility, but from a work perspective, it was a big improvement.

The water area feels a little old.
The bathroom has a bathtub, separate shower booth, and two sinks, making it easy for three people to use.
By the way, there is a separate toilet in the bathroom. There is also a toilet and sink next to the living room., I’d say it’s a suite…!
The inside of the hotel and the guest rooms are carefully maintained and are not uncomfortable because they are old.
On the other hand, compared to the latest hotels, the water facilities feel a little dated. The toilet also didn’t have a washlet.
(Personally,Bangkok Marriott Hotel The SurawongseThe hotel itself is relatively new, so I prefer hotels at the bottom when it comes to water. )
It didn’t bother me that much, but people who value new equipment should be careful.

With Peninsula Time, I was able to stay from early morning until just before returning home.
On a trip like this one, which uses late-night flights for both round trips,Peninsula Timewill be a big advantage.
Peninsula Time is Peninsula Hotel’s unique service.Early check-in is possible from 6:00 a.m. and late check-out is possible until 22:00.That’s what it means.
We arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport around 5:45am and got to the hotel around 7:30am. Thanks to Peninsula Time, I was able to go straight to my room without having to wait until 3pm, which is the standard hotel check-in time, so I was able to drop off my luggage, change clothes, and take a break before heading out into town.
The return flight departs at 9:40 p.m. When I checked in, I was asked what time I would be leaving the hotel, so I told them it would be around 5pm. I was able to use the room until that time on my return day, so I didn’t have to check out around noon and leave my luggage.
Please note that we do not apply individually to use Peninsula Time.
Since I couldn’t choose a morning arrival time on the HotelLux reservation screen, I chose 12:00 noon and entered the following in the special request field.
- Arrival flight number
- Flight arrival time
- Estimated time of arrival at hotel
- Request for an extra bed (because there were 3 people in 1 room)
In other words, you did not apply for the service itself, but you informed them of your expected arrival when making the reservation.
In addition, the official rules for Peninsula Time also state that you must inform the hotel of your scheduled arrival and departure times in advance. Since your desired time may not always be available, it is best to inform the hotel of your check-in/check-out time in advance by e-mail.
PenChat is useful as a concierge during your stay
Peninsula offers PenChat, a chat service for guests. WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat,LINEWe were able to communicate via chat, which helped us a lot during our stay.
This time, I mainly requested the following four things on PenChat.
- Hotel tuk tuk reservation
- Ask about the shuttle boat time and how to get on from the hotel to Peninsula Pier.
- Check for lost items at the hotel restaurant
- External restaurant reservations

I was able to reserve the hotel’s free tuk-tuk heading to Icon Siam by simply sending my desired time and number of people on PenChat.
You can ride without a reservation, but you may not be able to board if there are other passengers, so it’s best to make a reservation.

Check out how to get on the boat and the operating times to go to Peninsula Pier, which is on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya River from the hotel.
By the way, the free shuttle boat that connects Peninsula Pier and the hotel operates between 06:00 and 24:00.
There is also hotel staff on the Peninsula Pier side, so you can ask them to call for your boat when you return to your hotel.

There was a possibility that I had left something behind at the hotel’s restaurant, so I told them the time of day I went to the restaurant and the table number so they could help me find it.
With Chat, you can also attach images, which is convenient.
After about 10 minutes of inquiring, they found what I had left behind and then delivered it to my room!

You can also make reservations for restaurants outside the hotel by telling us your desired date and time and the number of people.
The restaurant I wanted this time did not have a reservation form on its official website, so I asked the hotel to make a reservation for me.
Responses are quick, and you don’t have to go to the front desk multiple times to communicate your details.
Also, if you want to communicate directly at the front desk, English proficiency is required, but if you use chat, you can communicate by text, and now translations can be done easily, soCommunication hurdles have been dramatically lowered, and the comfort of your stay has skyrocketed.I will.
More than just an inquiry chat,Concierge available from your roomThat’s what it felt like.
Why choose Peninsula for the free shuttle boat?
The Peninsula is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. If you drive to the city center, you may get stuck in traffic jams around the bridges that cross the river, so this location also has a disadvantage.
On the other hand, if you use the river for transportation, the impression changes.
When I told them from the hotel that I wanted to go to Sathorn Pier or Peninsula Pier on the opposite bank, they usually told me to wait 5 minutes and provided me with a free boat ride. There is also a regular boat service to Icon Siam, so shopping and dining are not a problem.
As a side note, there were times when I felt the hospitality of the Peninsula staff when I was using the boat.
The captain of the boat invited a male guest on the boat to the helm seat, and while giving instructions to steer the boat, the boat continued toward Icon Siam.
It took less than 10 minutes to arrive at Icon Siam instead of the usual 5 minutes, and when we arrived at Icon Siam, the captain said, “Sorry it took so long,” but he replied with a smile, “This is the best service for children.”
When you stay at a hotel overseas, you’ll find that they are better at keeping a distance from guests than in Japanese hotels.
I was relieved to see that Peninsula Bangkok’s warm customer service, which does not solely rely on manuals, is one of its charms.

The breakfast and dinner buffets are also very satisfying.
Breakfast is served at the hotel’s restaurant.River Cafe & Terrace” I took it.
There are outdoor seats along the river and cool, air-conditioned indoor seats, so you can choose depending on the temperature and your mood that day.
Although the variety of dishes is not huge, the quality is excellent, and you can eat all the mangoes to make up for your breakfast bill (lol).
At hotel breakfast rooms, staff often ask, “Do you want coffee?” At Peninsula Bangkok, we had a wide selection of drinks, including not just coffee, but latte, espresso, iced coffee, and Thai tea.
On the night of our arrival, we ate the dinner buffet at the same restaurant and used a $100 HotelLux hotel credit toward part of the bill.
I had no complaints not only about the rooms and service, but also about the food.

Advantages and disadvantages of Grand Deluxe Suite
Here are the benefits I felt after spending 3 nights:
- Even 3 adults can spend a relaxing time
- Separate living room and bedroom
- You can work in a separate room even when your family is on vacation.
- There is a full-fledged work desk and stable Wi-Fi.
- A 15-inch laptop can be stored in a safe box.
- Enjoy riverside views from the upper floors
- Convenient services such as Peninsula Time and PenChat
- Avoid traffic jams by shuttle boat
On the other hand, there are also disadvantages.
- Accommodation costs are not cheap and are not suitable for long-term stays.
- The water area is a little old compared to the newest hotels.
- If you travel by car, you are likely to be affected by traffic congestion around the bridge.
- Because it is on the opposite side of the river, fees for airport transfers etc. may be higher.
Summary|Although it was expensive, it was worth it for my family of 3 and my job.
The Grand Deluxe Suite was more than just a spacious and luxurious room.
By separating the living room and bedroom, a family of three can comfortably spend time together and work in a separate room even when someone is resting.
Furthermore, it is suitable for early morning arrivals and evening flight departures.Peninsula Time, you can consult via chatPenChat, a shuttle boat that turned the river into a convenient transportation route supported us throughout our stay.
Although the price is high and the facilities are old, this room is perfect for a family of three who are not used to traveling abroad, or for people who need to work during their stay.
If you would like to consider places to stay other than Peninsula, please also check out the article below that compares hotels we have actually stayed at.

The following article summarizes the things I tried to do when traveling and sightseeing with my parents.

I was impressed by Peninsula’s service when I stayed in a deluxe room in 2025, and this time, on my return visit, that impression was even stronger!
The veteran captain of the shuttle boat laughed and said to me, “You’re coming again next year, right?”, so I had to work hard so I could stay there again…!
